Buddy Play is a small Australian brand making gentle sensory products and sharing honest, practical guidance. We are here for the parents and carers of neurodivergent and sensory-seeking children, the ones doing the quiet, daily work of helping a child feel settled.
Why we exist
Sensory needs are part of everyday life in a lot of homes. A child who needs to move and crash to feel settled. A child who calms down faster in a small, enclosed space. A child who simply needs somewhere soft to land at the end of a big day. The right piece in the right corner of the house can make those moments easier for everyone.
We started Buddy Play to make those pieces easier to find and easier to understand. Sensory products are often sold with confident, clinical-sounding promises, and the funding side can feel like a maze. We wanted to do the opposite: make a few well-built things, describe them plainly, and put real, jargon-free guidance alongside them so families can make a confident choice.
How we talk about our products
We are not a clinic, and we are not therapists. So we stick to what we can honestly say: what a piece is, how it is made, and the kind of sensory input it offers. We describe deep-pressure and proprioceptive input, cosy enclosure, and defined floor space in functional terms, and we leave the clinical decisions to the professionals who know your child.
The same goes for the NDIS. Many families use items like ours as low-cost assistive technology, but whether anything can be funded depends entirely on an individual plan and its goals. We will never tell you what your plan will cover. What we can do is explain how the process tends to work, and help with the paperwork through our retail partner.
